Kfar Kedem is a reconstructed biblical village. A range of activities are available which provide an opportunity of reliving biblical village life and include, among others, threshing, pressing olives, crushing grapes (according to season). ![]() The central characters were mainly active in the Galilee and the Sea of Galilee. We offer the pilgrim visiting the holy sites varied and unique programs, combining a spiritual experience with authentic, first hand participation in reconstruction of the journeys. Throughout the programs we will be using one of the methods of transport available during that period: the donkey. The food will be based on ingredients, spices and dairy products used at the time of the dawn of Christianity and the meals will be served by the same means and methods. Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand..." (Mark 1:14-15) FROM NAZARETH TO SEPPHORRIS IN THE GALILEE HILLS TO MAGDALA ON THE SEA OF GALILEE Day 1: The group will be met by our guide in the town of Nazareth and we will start with a tour of the town. At the end of the tour we will leave Nazareth in a northerly direction on an easy walking trail (without donkeys). We will pass by the Sepphorris springs, visit the reconstructed site of Sepphorris with its excavated, mosaic floors and continue to Kfar Kedem, where we will have the opportunity of reliving Biblical life. |
Before dinner, and for as long as there is daylight, we will take part in a group experience of reconstruction of agricultural crafts used at the time of the birth of Christianity: threshing, pressing olives, crushing grapes (according to season). Dinner will be served in a shepherd's tent on large trays according to the hospitality traditions of the area. This is a multi-sensual experience, combining colour and flavours. Authentic music will be played by a player of string instruments. The guests will dress in clothing similar to the traditional clothing of the area. A story teller will compere the evening.Accommodation: Option 1: In a shepherd's tent on the site, on mattresses and rugs with sleeping bags. Showers and restrooms adjacent. Option 2: In hotels or guest houses in the area, co-ordinated by us or your travel agent. Day 2: After breakfast, which will include: goats cheese, olive oil, fresh vegetables, fresh pita bread baked on an open oven, natural honey, olives, tea and coffee, we will leave Kfar Kedem (both riding donkeys and walking on wide and comfortable paths) in the direction of the Bet Netofa valley in the south, along the northern shoulders of the Tour'an ridge, across the cultivated fields of the Arab village Ilbon and from there to Hurvat Amudim. Lunch will be served to the participants en route. Accommodation: Option 1: Outdoor - in double tents to be erected by the group. The group will be invited to take part in preparing dinner, which will include baking bread and cooking over a campfire. Option 2: In hotels or guest houses in the area, co-ordinated by us or your travel agent. Day 3: In the morning we will continue riding along the Wadi Arbel riverbed. We will leave the donkeys at the Arbel springs, descend a winding track to the foot of Mount Arbel and arrive at Magdala on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. The program finishes here and we will leave the group after lunch.
